Design-Build Residential Recovery Facility Celebrates Opening
The new Jay Mahler Recovery center in San Leandro, CA recently celebrated it’s grand opening. The project was built using a unique design-build contracting method by JL Construction in partnership with Byrens/Kim Design Works of Oakland and Wilson Architecture, Inc. of Modesto. The new 8,000 square foot building features a group kitchen, library and activity area plus nine bedrooms and offices for administration and support staff.
To save project time and reduce costs, JLC prefabricated the walls and roofs of the building in the manufacturing facility of its affiliate company, JL Modular, Inc. The panelized walls and roof were assembled on-site and then finish work was completed on-time and within budget. The program is provided by Alameda County through the Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services department and operated by Telecare, Inc.
