In response to the need for dedicated science classrooms, JL Construction, alongside JL Modular, constructed a cutting-edge 2-story, 15,600 square foot modular building designed to enhance the educational experience at a local middle school. This new facility features 10 integrated science labs and 6 prep rooms, equipped with multiple sinks, lab-grade countertops, and ample storage for chemicals and other scientific materials. Additionally, the building includes crucial support spaces such as student and staff restrooms on both floors, an electrical room, an elevator, exterior stairs, and a balcony.
The primary goal of this project was to provide the school with specialized classrooms that support advanced science instruction. Each lab is designed to facilitate hands-on experiments and practical learning, addressing the growing need for modern educational environments in science.
The construction presented unique challenges, particularly due to its location adjacent to the main school entrance, all while the school remained fully operational. The project team effectively managed these challenges through careful planning and execution, ensuring that the construction did not disrupt the daily activities of the school.
This project showcases how modular construction can deliver high-quality, functional spaces in a timely manner, even in complex environments. By incorporating advanced design features and addressing specific educational needs, the new science building stands as a testament to innovation in school infrastructure.
